Dorothy, known by her family as Dode, was born May 26, 1928, in Madison. Dorothy attended Madison schools, graduated from East High, and received her degree in teaching from UW-Madison. Dorothy left us on February 10, 2018, at Rainbow Hospice in Jefferson.
Dorothy taught kindergarten for her entire career in teaching. She worked in Wisconsin, retiring from the Greenfield School District, as well as in Michigan and Colorado. Her love for young children and their early education was exemplary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Bernhardine Pfister, and sisters Marilyn (Robert) Bultman and Lorraine (Robert) Berigan. Dorothy was the favorite, “fun aunt” to her surviving seven nieces and four nephews.
Dorothy wanted “no fuss” as she planned for her final destination. Thus, burial and family memorials will be private. Our thanks go to those who supported her through her final days, especially the View at Pine Ridge in Oconomowoc, staff at Oconomowoc Hospital, and Rainbow Hospice, Jefferson.
If you wish to memorialize Dode in some way, consider support for teachers, the early education of children, Alzheimer’s organizations, and your local nonprofit hospice.
