Harriet L. Pruefer, 94 of Jefferson, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Sylvan Crossing of Jefferson.
Harriet was born on April 14, 1923 in Fort Atkinson, WI, the daughter of Harry and Esther (Wilde) Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Foster were killed in a train accident when Harriet was 3 years old and her sister Betty was 8. The girls were raised by her Aunt Gertrude Foster in Jefferson. She is a 1941 graduate of Jefferson High School and on December 27, 1952, she married Carl Pruefer, Sr. in Monona, WI. The couple enjoyed 43 years of marriage until his death in 1996. Family was of the utmost importance to Harriet. She was a loving lady who looked for opportunity to help others. Harriet worked best behind the scenes, but her care for others benefited many. She was a life-long member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Jefferson and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by: her Son Carl (Joan) Pruefer, Jr. of Janesville; Granddaughter Sarah Pruefer; Sister Betty Pruefer of Jefferson; and her favorite dog – Louise. Harriet is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Immanuel United Methodist Church of Jefferson with Pastor Kellen Roggenbuck presiding. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery of Jefferson.
