James “Jim” J. Salaj, 72 of Jefferson, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019, at his home.
Jim was born on July 7, 1947, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of George and Marie (Groenan) Salaj. Jim is a 1965 graduate of Granville High in Brown Deer and was drafted into the US Army soon after graduation. On September 15, 1984, Jim married Cheri Janus in Green Bay and the couple raised four children. Jim started his career at “the Phone Company” (Ma Bell, Wisconsin Bell, Ameritech, SBC, AT&T) as a coin collector and advanced to upper management, retiring in 1999. Golfing was a major interest and Florida is where he loved to be in the winter. He appreciated the warm weather and, above all else, he loved his family.
He is survived by: his wife Cheri of Jefferson; children Todd (Andi) Salaj of Oconomowoc, Amy Fisher of Spring Valley, Rebecca (Day) Frostenson of Seattle, WA, and Ashley Salaj of Milwaukee; grandchildren Samantha, Tyler, Logan, Carson, and Carter; and his brother George (Judy) Salaj. He is also survived by other dear family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held from 4:00PM – 8:00PM on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home of Jefferson. Jim will be laid to rest at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery during a private family service.
