Ruth J. Shuppe, 92 of Johnson Creek, WI, died peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek.
Ruth was born on February 15, 1926 in McFarland, WI, the Daughter of Carl and Jonetta (Hestnes) Brandt. She was Valedictorian of Deerfield High and at the age of 50, went back to school and earned a nursing degree. Ruth owned JC Salon in Johnson Creek for many years and worked as a Registered Nurse at Countryside Nursing Home (now Alden Estates) and as an OB Nurse at Fort Hospital. On June 23, 1951, she married John Shuppe in Cottage Grove, WI. The couple had 7 children and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his death in 2003. Ruth was an artist and innovator. She could cook and feed the multitudes. She gardened, canned food, made all types of art, took care of her children and grandchildren, and worked hard every day of her life. Ruth saw only the good in people. She never had a cross word to say and made meaningful connections everywhere she went. She was a problem solver and the go-to person when her family was in need. She wanted the best for her family and insisted on her children attending church and saying their nightly prayers. She was a long-time and active member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church of Farmington. Ruth will be dearly missed and to quote her: “Careful on the road”.
She is survived by: her Children Cheryl (James) Reichert of Johnson Creek, Debra (Stephen) Schmidt of Fort Myers, FL, Kim Shuppe of Sun Prairie, Michele (Michael) Parish-Donohue of Janesville, John (Marge) Shuppe of Sun Prairie, Eric (Jody) Shuppe Johnson Creek, Gregory (Marybeth) Shuppe of Johnson Creek; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; her Siblings Kenneth (Joy) Brandt and Joanne (Melvin) Brushaber both of Fort Atkinson. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and Brother Carmen (Edna) Brandt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth’s honor to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
