Elroy L. Dorn, 89 of Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Alden Estates of Jefferson.
Elroy was born on August 12, 1934, in the Town of Concord, WI, the son of Herman and Viola (Winkelman) Dorn. He graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1951. On September 17, 1955, Elroy married Janet Staude at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rome. The couple enjoyed 68 years of marriage and 5 children. Elroy and Janet were together almost every day of their nearly 7-decade marriage. He drove only Ford Automobiles, which he kept in showroom condition, his notable wit and personality were appreciated by some, and he was whole-heartedly committed to his bride. Elroy took great pride in his yard but loved and valued his family above all else. He will be missed.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Dorn of Jefferson; children Susan (James) Hoenecke of Fort Atkinson, Terry (Debra) Dorn of Marysville, OH, Timothy (Kristie) Dorn of Jefferson, Sherry (Randall) Kohn of Hartland, and Steven Dorn of Jefferson; 6 grandchildren Laura (Mitchel), Brady, Courtney (Alex), Zachary (Jillian), Nicholas (Hannah), and Kaitlin (Justin); 4 great-grandchildren William, Adayla, Maximus, Arlo, and a baby on the way, sisters Margaret Jaeger of Queen Creek, AZ and Ruth Ann Christian of Oconomowoc; and a sister-in-law Violet Dorn of Watertown. Elroy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Sarah Dorn (2015), and siblings Donna Mae Dorn, Dorothy Sukow, Mabel Lees, and Harvey, Donald, Floyd, and Leon Dorn.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to the staff of Alden Estates and Rainbow Hospice for the loving care provided.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, November 3, 2023, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Rome with Rev. Marilyn Lange presiding. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Elroy will be buried at St. Luke’s Cemetery following the funeral service.
