Timothy A. Carnes, 55 of Whitewater, died on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
Tim was born on November 27, 1967, in Fort Atkinson, WI, the son of Randall and Kathleen (Sullivan) Carnes. He attended Fort Atkinson High School, graduating in 1986. He earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy and administration from UW-Whitewater in 1990 and served in a leadership role with his fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. On October 16, 1993, Tim married Catherine Froelich at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rome. The couple had 2 children. Tim was an entrepreneur and a salesman, beginning his career at NASCO and later running his own business. Tim loved to be outdoors. He was a hunter, fisherman, camper, Harley rider, mountain climber, and daredevil. He even humored Cathy on morning bicycle rides around the block. Tim was an active and dedicated member of St. Joseph’s of Fort Atkinson and most recently Patrick’s Catholic Parish of Whitewater. He also served as a Scout leader in Boy Scout Troop 134. His family remembers what fun he was on road trips and how he sang Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” at the beginning of every trip. He enjoyed collecting treasures from his travels and sharing them with the ones he loved. Tim had a brilliant mind and a great business sense. He was extremely generous and a wonderful provider for his family. His sweet disposition and love for others was appreciated by many and he will be missed.
He is survived by: his parents Kathleen and William Powers of Fort Atkinson and Randall Carnes of Whitewater; wife of 30 years Cathy Carnes of Whitewater; his children Allison Margaret Carnes and Ian Timothy (Hannah Beckman) Carnes both of Fort Atkinson; siblings Michelle (Robert) Carl of Jefferson, Robert Carnes of Fort Atkinson, and Michael Powers of Fort Atkinson. Tim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
His grandparents, many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends have preceded Tim in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Whitewater with Fr. Mark Niehaus and Fr. Antony Thomas concelebrating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00AM until the Mass.
